Sigrid Patterson
Sigrid is an award winning artist with art sold in Australia, USA, and across Europe. She won the Art Lovers Australia still life award in 2021 and has been a finalist in many competitions both in Australia and overseas.
Based in the hinterland of Byron Bay on the east coast of Australia, Sigrid works in both oil and acrylic paint. Many of her pieces embrace the story telling power of flowers. She has extended this use of floriography in her still life genre to include Australian native plants, favourite and found vessels and mementos.
Sigrid’s paintings represent social commentary on issues such as the environment, diversity, inclusion, and the building of strong communities though, at other times, her paintings are for the pure beauty that she sees in the subjects. She often includes reflective surfaces encouraging the viewer to reflect on the stories within, and shadows, to take the viewer on a journey of what lies behind. Always happy to tell the stories that are woven within her pieces, Sigrid is keen for the viewer to see, take and interpret her work as they wish.
Sigrid’s work embodies stories of our times, of our generations. They are urgent, are sad, are happy and joyous, have beauty and are full of resilience and courage. She aims to encourage a wider audience to respond to these themes.
