Jodie Handley

Jodie Handley is an Australian embroidery artist who initially discovered her interest in textile art when studying visual arts at USQ in Toowoomba in the early 2000s. After putting away the needle and thread for some time, she began making cosplays in 2018 which reignited her love for working with fabric. In 2021, Jodie attempted thread painting for the first time and realised she had found her medium.  Jodie’s work is all hand embroidered, and she will often focus her conceptual work on the day to day struggles of living with chronic illnesses and conditions.

Jodie was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the Textiles Category of the 2023 Queensland Regional Art Awards, and her piece The Four Swords of Rest & Recovery recently concluded touring Queensland with the rest of the winners and finalists.
