Beverley Tainton

In my early years, I studied art at Somerville House under Archibald Prize finalist
Betty Quelhurst. Subsequently I graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1967 but since
the early 1970's I have devoted myself passionately to painting. I have read and
studied intensively across a wide cross-section of art genre and developed affinity
particularly for the work of painters such as: Elisabeth Cummings; Richard
Diebenkorn; Judy Cassab; Margaret Woodward; John Olsen; Charles Blackman; and
Ann Thomson. I have visited the major galleries in Paris, Amsterdam, London, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide to study major works of prominent artists and I am a member of and regular visitor to QAGOMA and a Fellow of the Royal Queensland Art Society. I have an extensive personal art library which continues to contribute to my art
education in a major way. Over 50 years of painting I have had numerous solo
exhibitions including a fifty-work exhibition in the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery. I
have received many awards, the latest being at the 133rd annual Royal Queensland
Art Society Members Exhibition (2023) where I was awarded the prize for Best
Artwork - All Sections. Her Excellency, Jeannette Young, Governor of Queensland and Professor Graeme Nimmo have selected one of my paintings "Embracing Strength" which now hangs in the Fernberg Room at Government House, Queensland.
