Jeanne Cotter

Always interested in art and colour, Jeanne has been painting with soft pastels since
2009. She worked as a professional graphic designer for 17 years and began teaching
pastel painting in Brisbane for adult beginners in 2016.
“I am a tactile person, so the immediacy of soft pastels and the simplicity of using
just a few sticks of pigment and my fingers to mix and blend and create art gives me
a lot of joy. I’m impatient and impulsive, so when I have the urge to paint I don’t
want to wait for anything to dry or set – soft pastels are perfect for me.“
Jeanne’s subject of choice varies between genres including florals, still life and
landscapes; her most recent works have focused on native proteas, gums and
blossoms. Now semi-retired and living in Toowoomba, Jeanne practices her art
almost every day and currently exhibits in local shows and galleries, as well as
teaching soft pastel workshops and classes for adult beginners in her Delicious Art
Studio.
