Felicity Grant
My childhood was spent on my family’ssheep and cattle property in SW Qld and I’ve lived and worked in rural areas for much of my life.
This close affinity with country life, led me to draw and paint rural scenes from a young age and remains a strong influence in my work today.
After leaving School I studied Visual Arts, graduating with a Diploma of Creative Art and majoring in Print Making. I then worked as a trainee Graphic Artist also illustrating storyboard and background graphics for WIN Television, Toowoomba. This was the pre computer age when all artwork was hand generated.
In the early 80’s I developed my painting career further and attended classes with renowned water-colourist Rex Backhaus-Smith. I held my first solo exhibition in 1984 and have exhibited widely since then.
My works in watercolour, oil and acrylic are found in private collections throughout Australia and overseas and I’m currently represented by Tiffany Jones Fine Art Consultant, in Buderim.
Much of my work is produced in series taking inspiration from a variety of objects collected over the years, then using them as the foundation for a story or theme within the painting.
