Clare Tosoni
“In my art I like to capture beauty in things. Sometimes it is clear what the beautiful thing is, sometimes it is abstracted into joyful colour and pattern.
I create because my mind is full of chaos, colour, and visions of my past and present. My watercolours offer simplicity in their imagery. My acrylics are often my abstract playground. Oils are for still life.”
Clare is an emerging Brisbane artist working primarily in watercolour, acrylics and oils. As a daughter of a university art lecturer, her father’s influence has never left her. After a long hiatus from the visual arts space Clare started painting again some 3 years ago. Her style has developed rapidly over these last few years.
Enjoying subject matter from a different perspective, her work offers a whimsical point of view. A sense of order coupled with unpredictability adds an energy to her pieces. The creative process for her is energising and meditative, offering the same experience to the viewer. Sometimes a still life, often an abstract bird’s eye view of some of her favourite places, the result is bold and colourful with the occasional hint of nostalgia.
Clare juggles family life, her work in healthcare and a growing art practice.
Currently displaying works in the St Vincent’s “Outside In Exhibition” 2021/22 and around her local community.
