Carina Chambers
Carina Chambers – Artist Statement
Born and raised on the land, Carina’s deep connection to nature is shaped by her upbringing - her father, a farmer, and her mother, a geography teacher. This foundation instilled an innate understanding of how the elements interact with the landscape, a theme that underpins her work. In her semi-abstract paintings, Carina applies expressive colour and layered textures to capture the essence of the Australian countryside, where she now calls home. Her works are imbued with the ever-changing light, vast skies, and seasonal shifts of the landscape.
Each piece is named after the song lyrics she listens to while walking, reflecting both her personal journey and the beauty of her surroundings. Using a mix of acrylics, drawn elements, and bold textures, her work explores the dynamic relationship between Australia's agricultural landscapes, their rolling hills, rugged terrain, and open plains - and the vast, ever-changing skies that embrace them.
"When I look up at the sky, I can subconsciously hear my dad’s voice questioning,
‘What can you see up there? And what does it mean for our future?’"; – Carina
