Emerging contemporary Aboriginal artist, Clare Jaque Vasquez weaves with paint to capture stories of being raised with three generations of Gomeroi/Kamalaroi women under the one roof and the combined journey towards embracing equality and walking in two juxtaposed worlds.

Clare recently won the International Art for Change Prize for the Australia and New Zealand region and was exhibited at the global finals at the iconic London Saatchi Gallery in December 2022 alongside 5 other global finalists.

Now residing on Bindal and Wulgurukaba Country in far north Queensland, Clare has exhibited with Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts at the 2022 Cairns Indigenous Art Fair.
Her works capture stories and weaving practices in a raised textural form. Textural elements are applied using a range of tools and natural brushes, ranging from palm fronts, sticks and tea leaves. Connecting the canvas with Country from the very beginning of artworks.
