Catherine is a Brisbane based artist and illustrator. Bright colours, texture and pattern reflect the emotional and meditative qualities of her work.

Born in Queensland, Catherine also spent a large part of her life in London where she studied Art and Illustration, receiving her BA in 1998.

Represented by Aspire Gallery Brisbane, she has been a finalist in the Lethbridge 20000 Art Award and is a regular exhibitor in art shows such as Toowoomba Grammar, Brisbane Grammar, Downlands, Aspects Art Show and Brookfield.

Since returning to Australia with her family she has been working mostly in acrylics. Quickly building up layers of colour and texture, Catherine works instinctively and tends to get lost in the details. Taking inspiration from nature, the subjects of her paintings evolve from the colours, patterns and textures on the canvas.

Catherine finds painting an almost meditative process where she can slow down, relax and reconnect with nature. Although her unconscious mind tries to tame nature and make order out of the chaos, she hopes the viewer can still experience an emotional connection to the finished piece of work.
